Pregnancy Continuum Care + Hospital Birth
Many women value the reassurance of having a known midwife throughout their pregnancy while choosing to birth in hospital. This service provides continuity, education and personalised support alongside your chosen maternity provider.
Appointments are available at The Mother Hood (6 Burnett Place, Larrakeyah) or in the comfort of your own home.
Your care will include:
Pregnancy Care
Regular antenatal appointments tailored to your individual needs. These appointments are bulk-billed by Medicare. Appointment scheduling will be every 3-4 weeks until 28-weeks, then fortnightly until 36 weeks, then weekly appointments until your birth. These appointments can range from 60-90 minutes. In your appointments, we will:
Complete a comprehensive and thorough health assessment so that care is individualised to your needs.
Support your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. This may include discussions around your expectations and hopes for birth and parenthood, and suggestions for supplementations, movement and nourishment in pregnancy.
Review your pathology and ultrasound results.
Create referrals for investigations or additional support with your consent.
Navigate the hospital system and care options.
Discuss birth planning and preferences including comfort measures, analgesia options and advice for your birth support or partner.
Birth Support
Birth support in the hospital is provided strictly in a non-clinical role only. This means that clinical care will be provided by the wonderful team of midwives and doctors at the Royal Darwin Hospital.
24/7 on-call availability during your birth window from 37 weeks until birth.
Includes hire of TENs machine, birth combs and acupressure devices.
Physical and emotional support during labour with named midwife.
Postpartum Care
Ongoing care during the transition to parenthood after discharge from hospital, including:
Support and advice for your recovery post birth.
Regular assessments for your baby.
Feeding and breastfeeding support.
Birth debrief or reflection.
Throughout your care, appointments provide space for questions, discussions and personalised support so that you feel informed, prepared and supported every step of the way.
Choosing private midwifery care is an investment in a model of care that places relationship, continuity and personalised support at its centre. Rather than seeing multiple healthcare providers throughout pregnancy, you can receive continuity of care and build an ongoing relationship with your midwife. Your investment supports longer, personalised appointments, a known and trusted midwife, and access to your midwife between appointments however you may need.
A non-refundable Booking Confirmation fee of $1,500 can be paid in early pregnancy after our meet and greet. The remaining balance of $5,100 is due at 36 weeks. Please know that payment plans are offered and we can discuss this to meet your needs.
